Occupancy Control is first and foremost a life safety feature by displaying exactly how many people are in the building and in which location. This utility is beneficial when fire or a natural disaster require headcount. Information, showing how many people and in which location can be sent to an external computer giving emergency response teams invaluable information. Occupancy Control can also be used as a convenience feature for arming/disarming intrusion systems, turning on/off lights and HVAC systems. This requires some additional integration.
Depending on the environment, Occupancy Control may be configured to count the number of open spaces in a parking garage to determine if a vehicle can enter or not. Access Metrics can be integrated to work with display unit at the entrance of a parking garage showing the number of open spaces.
